X-sama was received by an orphanage as an infant. Because he was unnamed, the kids at the orphanage dubbed him “X”, a name he grew into as a child. Eventually, however, an affectionate caretaker at the orphanage gave him a more personal name: Yolan, after her late son.
Early on, Yolan befriended a newcomer to the orphanage, a rather reserved boy nicknamed “Pyro” by the kids, for his ability to manipulate fire. Despite their competitive natures, the two became best friends and formed a notoriously mischievous duo at the orphanage.
One night, when Yolan was eleven, a mysterious fire consumed the building. Yolan managed to escape the roaring flames, but others were not as lucky. He never saw Pyro nor the old caretaker again.

Amina was born to a rather privileged family. At a young age, she quickly realized a fantastic ability to bring her drawings to life. This discovery, however, did not seem to please her parents and peers. Government warnings had created fear and disdain towards the few ability-wielding individuals in town. Amina was fortunate to have been protected from much of the discrimination from adults by her family prestige, as well as jeers from children by her older brother.
When Amina was nine, however, her brother mysteriously left home. Three long years trudged by before the mounting curiosity and unease finally drove Amina to venture out of town in search of her brother. Along the way, she frequented local restaurants to sing and earn money. Her talents and charms won over many audiences, and she eventually gained recognition as a well-known idol. Amina hoped that her fame would somehow attract the attention of her brother, wherever he may be. As her path collided with X-sama and the others, and she decided to join them while continuing on her personal quest.

Nel was abandoned at a very early age and was taken in by X-sama. Thus, she harbors a great deal of admiration for him but often mistakes this feeling as love. She is stubborn and bratty but is also very sensitive, especially when it comes to her past and admitting that she was "unwanted". Nel is a bit inept at using her ability, largely due to her young age. She also argues frequently with Ryle.

Lilica has been mute since she was born. She lived with her 3 younger sisters in a small temple run by their strict mother. Having lost a father due to an accident when she was 13, Lilica's mother found a new lover shortly.Confusing real love with fatherly love, Lilica and the man developed a relationship. When her mother found out, she murdered Lilica out of jealousy.
After being murdered, Lilica then discovered her ability to communicate with ghost spirits. 5 spirits claimed they were her guardians since birth. While she is still technically "dead", Lilica can now walk. She still can't speak, so her spirits talk for her. Her 5 guardians are:
Sen: Has a very cocky attitude. His tongue is filled with deadly poisons.
Nen: Sen's older brother. Nen is able to conjure up curses. He despises humans.
Kuroguro: A gigantic black hand that can't speak. When angry, it crushes and destroys the surroundings around it.
Ginji: The youngest ghost in the group. Ginji is very kind-hearted and naive. He also has healing abilities.
Rakunin: Very senile and tends to loose his memories often. He is able to locate other humans and ghosts when "drunk".
Her guardians are very protective of Lilica, so they offered to kill her mother (which Lilica declined). Instead, Lilica and her guardians set off aimlessly into the world, where they bumped into X-sama. Much to her guardian's discontent, Lilica joined X-sama because of his resemblance to her father.
